My artist statement

As my university career came to a close, I had to write a statement about my work for my gallery show. Rather than posting it 11 times, I'll just post it here :)

My work derives from a deeply embedded motivation to prove that beauty is not defined by the perfections of the form, rather, the imperfections. Birthmarks, stretch marks, scars, asymmetry, and body hair are characteristics that are beautiful to me. I direct the viewer to look through my eyes and notice I portray a non-glamorous approach to my models, but rather honest, yet sensitive point of view.
Instead of posing models, I observe and photograph them as they are. Zooming in on the figure and cropping in an unusual way, I focus the viewer specifically on body characteristics. Using only available light and a twin lens camera, I apply manual methods to produce my photographs. I am fascinated by the organic, spontaneous qualities of film and they are essential to my body of work.

All of my shots have been produced via color processor and no computer altering has been added (just dusting, etc)
I will miss my access to facilities as I walk into the real world as a college graduate with a BFA in fine art photography...
However the world's a big place and I've only just begun.

Thanks to you all who have helped me and provided me with a boost throughout my college career.
Especially to one certain special aussie photographer :) You know who you are.

much love,
K

Deleted a few things

Hello All

I don't know if you have noticed, but I went through and cleaned out all my artistic nudes having to do with my face. Apparently I found out my dad and mom found this site(mind you I am a grown adult, its the principle of the thing) and my mom so much didn't mind me posing- as everything I did was very tasteful, its just fact that if I want a career soon I need to make sure nothing I have could jeopardize that opportunity. And not to mention me turning bright red when all of this was brought to my attention.

So yeah, there it is folks, sorry for the inconvenience.

ciao!

I made a website!

As much as I enjoy Deviantart and all that it has brought me....

I am going to be prominently using my website (almost all the photos on the site are from dA).
Thing is, It's much easier to access each photo this way, I can personalise it however I want, and it looks much more professional.
I am seeking to go to graduate school or possibly get a career- so one of the biggest steps is to have an online portfolio.

pretty soon it'll be changed to kajeterphoto.com, but the domain isn't up yet. :)
Thanks to all my supporters!
much much love :blowkiss:

(Don't worry I'm not leaving dA, I'll just be using both)

Is it selfish to brag? I dont know. Anyway, thought I would announce it to ya'll. :boogie:

I am again, so lucky.

So today whilst walking through the photography lab my professor stopped me and informed me there was a show coming up later this month in our gallery featuring women and art and I was selected to be one of three or four to have my work up. (Featured Deviation is the one selected)

I can't think of a better feeling then these little signs that keep me on my toes every time I feel like I'm falling and need to abandon my camera...

Just had to share with ya'll... I was so excited. :boing:
